At its Sept. 22, 2009 meeting the Valley Transit Board voted unanimously to submit a ballot measure to voters on Feb. 9 to raise the sales tax for transit by 0.3% to bring the local transit tax up to the state average, and allow existing services to be maintained.
The board also voted unanimously to keep the current system of transit routes and frequency of service intact until the results of the February election are in.
Thanks to all those who contributed to the submission of the more than 2000 signatures on the petition to the board in support of its action, those who have volunteered to work on the campaign, those who have given endorsements, and those who have provided financial support.
